Board Officers

President – Roger J. Mattson is a mechanical engineer with a Ph.D. in that field from the University of Michigan. He has spent the past 47 years in the field of nuclear facility safety and management in both the public and private sectors. He has served on the boards of directors of several private companies and nonprofit organizations. His hobbies include fly fishing, piano and swimming.

Vice President – Cindy Baroway was recently elected to her second term as a Lakewood City Councilor for Ward 2. She is employed by the University of Colorado Denver where she is the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) Program Facilitator and Lecturer. Prior to this, Cindy owned her own insurance consulting firm and worked in the industry. She enjoys giving back to her community.

Treasurer – Wendy Raffaeli is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for RMH Group, Inc., a locally owned consulting engineering company. She leads and manages the accounting, finance, human resources, information systems and administrative areas of the company. Prior to RMH, Wendy served as senior finance manager/executive for several other companies. Wendy is a CPA and LEED AP. 

Secretary – Paula Stearns, MSN, RN has had an eclectic nursing career, including working in several Denver area hospitals, home health care and national research projects focusing on home health and geriatric care. Before retiring, she was the Executive Director of the Colorado Nurses Association for five years, where she was involved in many statewide healthcare and nursing issues, advocating for the nursing profession and quality care for all.

Past President – The Reverend Ron Holmes grew up in Denver, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School and the University of Northern Colorado. In 1988, he graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and has served churches in Hastings, Nebraska and Amarillo, Texas and now serves as pastor at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Lakewood. He began serving on the Action Center board of directors in 2006.
