Jeffco Public Schools donate thousands of food items for Grub Club

This winter, The Action Center teamed up with the Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA), Jeffco Classified School Employees (JCCSEA) and Jeffco PTA for the second annual Grub Club Food Drive. Jeffco teachers, administrators and employees collected food items across the school district to benefit the Grub Club program.

FullSizeRender(10)Grub Club, a program of The Action Center, works with Jeffco Schools to identify students in need in the county. Every two weeks the students can pick up boxes of food and hygiene products from their school counselors to help ensure they stay focused in school and don’t go hungry. The Grub Club program currently provides boxes to 69 students throughout Jefferson County.

JCEA, JCCSEA and Jeffco PTA  asked students, teachers and parents in each articulation area to focus on collecting one item that goes in the non-perishable food boxes. On Saturday, January 16th, Jeffco students, parents and educators dropped off an overwhelming amount of donated items at The Action Center’s warehouse. With the amount of items donated, the Grub Club will be sustainable for one whole school year. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Grub Club Food Drive again this year!

Total amounts collected for Grub Club:

Mac and cheese: 2,288
Peanut butter: 665
Pasta dinners: 786
Hot cocoa: 8,027
Trail mix/granola bars: 3,537
Oatmeal: 6,890
Soup: 1,061
Chicken: 367
Pudding cups: 4,290
Fruit cups: 5,369
