Where Action Matters Breakfast

The Where Action Matters Breakfast brings the community together to hear about the help, hope and dignity that the Action Center’s work provides to its clients each day.

During the annual one-hour event, guests learn more about the Action Center and its role in the community. Board members, volunteers and past clients share stories and speak about the effect the Action Center has had on their lives and the community. Several hundred people attend the event with the guest list being made up of city and county officials, volunteers, staff members, donors, community members and recipients of the Action Center services. The event raises funds that the Action Center uses to provide essential stabilizing services to those in need in Jefferson County.

The Betty Proctor Fund

The Betty Proctor Fund is a special emergency fund within the Action Center designed to meet one-time needs that cannot be met by any other agency. Following the decades of caring work by founder Betty Proctor, this fund formerly know as Helping Hearts and Hands, provides a life-line for families needing the last $100 for a specific need. This aide is provided quickly with minimal paperwork for anything from medical needs to transportation, rent assistance to utility bills.

The Betty Proctor Fund hosts two events each year – the Wine Tasting Dinner in the winter and the Luncheon in September.
